Flower Care
1. Give Stems a Fresh Cut
Use sharp floral shears or scissors to trim about an inch from each stem at a 45-degree angle before placing your flowers in a vase. The angled cut keeps stems from sitting flat against the bottom of the vase, allowing them to take in more water and stay hydrated from the start.
2. Keep the Water Clean
Remove any foliage or petals that will sit below the waterline. Submerged leaves break down quickly, creating bacteria that can clog the stems and shorten the life of your arrangement.
3. Choose the Right Environment
Display your arrangement in a cool spot away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and air vents. Temperature changes and drafts can cause flowers to wilt faster and shorten the life of your arrangement.
4. Refresh Water Daily
Refresh the water every 1–2 days to keep it clean and bacteria-free. Each time you change the water, give the vase a quick rinse and trim another ½ inch from the stems. A fresh cut helps reopen the stems so your flowers can continue taking up water.
5. Tidy As You Go
Not every flower ages at the same pace. As individual flowers begin to fade, gently remove them from the arrangement. This keeps the water cleaner, gives the remaining flowers more room to shine, and helps your arrangement look fresh for longer.
6. Keep It Going
When a few flowers begin to fade, there's no need to say goodbye to the whole arrangement. Come into Blossom, and our team will help you pick fresh stems to continue the life of your arrangement!
